About Vintage – The 1844 Chronograph review

What happens when you put two friends on a white beach in Mexico, have them talk about timepieces, throw in some Corona’s? It results in an exciting new watch brand called About Vintage!

Based in Denmark, About Vintage is your go to place to find and buy elegant and luxurious designed watches yet affordable.

About Vintage – Founders Video (English Sub) from About Vintage on Vimeo.

Designed from a vision to create timeless pieces that are relevant today, tomorrow and beyond, About Vintage delivers on that vision with six different watch designs. The six designs will ensure that any men or women can find a watch design and finish that fits his or her design taste.

The extraordinary attention for details go far beyond the watch designs, and a showcase of About Vintage their focus on details is the name of each watch. Named after historical and memorable moments in horology you will find watches named amongst others 1815, 1844 and 1969.

And it’s the 1844 Chronograph I have had the pleasure to wear and use over the last few weeks.

The 1844 Chronograph – no 592

The 1844 Chronograph – no 592

Let’s get some technical details out of the way first!

  • Glass: Domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating
  • Strap: 20mm Italian leather with pin buckle
  • Case: 316L high-precision stainless steel
  • Dial: Black with steel dots and hands.
  • Movement: Miyota 6S11 Quartz Chronograph
  • Size: 41mm wide, 11mm thick
  • Water Resistance: 5ATM (don’t use while diving)

Delivered in a stunning wooden box with an engraved logo, you immediately can feel the love and attention for details. Dark wood, sharp lines scream classic design! And the 1844 Chronograph doesn’t disappoint.

I went for the black dial version of the Chronograph the design of the dial is just stunning. The extent of their attention for details goes from the black dial with it’s steel dots and handles to the dial plate designed in such away that numbers and precision lines make each timing (and reset) to be spot on accurate. Pretty important if you are named after the year the chronograph was updated to include the re-setting feature, which allowed successive measurements.

Adding to the coolness factor of the watch is the fact that every 1844 Chronograph is unique, as it’s individual number (mine is 592) is engraved on the back of the watch case. The Chronograph came with a dark black stitched leather strap made from soft but durable leather. Like the rest of the watch, the strap is made with attention for details. With a flick of your finger you can adjust the look of your watch as the watch comes with an interchangeable strap.

Concluding

After wearing the About Vintage watch the last weeks, I find the 1844 Chronograph to be a perfect mix between classical details and a modern look. It fit’s perfectly within my aesthetics, that depends on subtle details to pop. The attention for the design of the watched certainly paid off as I got a bucket load of compliments from watch lovers who praised it’s elegant design and price point. So final verdict, I like the About Vintage 1844 Chronograph and if you are looking for a watch that you can dress up or down than I highly recommend to give the About Vintage collection a closer look!

      Hi Luca,

I’m not a brand 😉 I removed your phone numbers to make sure nobody is going to call you and wake you up in the middle of the night… Best! K
