Oak & Rove The Kennedy weekender – review

While we haven’t been able to travel a lot this year due to obvious reasons, good news looks to be on the horizon. So with the opportunity to travel again around the corner and the festive season coming up (time to suggest those presents to you loved ones 😉 ) why not look to upgrade your travel kit!

Personally, I’m a big fan of a weekender bag! Big enough to pack clothes for a few days on the road (hence Weekender 🙂 ) but also very handy when flying as you don’t need to check it in! Now the weekender comes in all types of forms and materials, but I like mine pretty minimal while not sacrificing ease of use and enough room to pack! And I think Oak & Rove has read my mind because just look at this Kennedy weekender bag!

Oak & Rove

American based brand Oak & Rove started their journey back in 2015 when founder, Harrison Bevins, left the corporate world to pursue his goal of building his own business.

Based on his own experience of traveling the globe he felt a stylish and versatile travel bag was missing! And so, the stylish Kennedy weekender was born.

The Kennedy weekender

The Kennedy is a great example of combining clean design with ease of use! Full-grain leather details, more roomy compartments than you can think of, and a nylon twill water-resistant exterior that will keep your belongings safe! Combine that with the minimal aesthetics and you got a dream weekender

With multiple compartments to organize all your belongings, the Kennedy is designed to make things easy for you. A tech compartment to keep all those chargers and cables organized and your laptop safe, but also a separate shoe compartment! No more smelly sneakers with those clean fits. Definitely happy that Oak & Rove put a lot of thought into this because I’m typically the person that packs neatly but within seconds of needing something my bag is chaos again. So, what is this beauty made of?

Let’s talk specs!

  • Lightweight, water-resistant, nylon twill exterior
  • Full-grain leather trim, handles, front pockets, & shoulder strap
  • YKK® zipper
  • Separate water-proof shoe compartment
  • Tech compartment for cords, chargers, and more
  • Laptop sleeve fits up to 15″
  • Fully lined premium black interior fabric
  • 33L internal volume capacity
  • Luggage tag with card slot
  • Measures 11.8″ (H) x 20.5″ (W) x 8.3″ (D)

Dopp kit

While you are upgrading your tools for a successful business trip or a weekend getaway, you might also want to check out the Dopp kit from Oak & Rove. Using the same materials as the Kennedy, you got yourself a perfect matching and fitting lightweight Dopp kit in the same style!

The verdict

While I haven’t been able to put the Kennedy through its paces due to obvious reasons, my initial impressions go beyond my expectations. Normally I’m not a big fan of nylon bags because if used wrong it can look very cheap. But Oak & Rove nailed it with the Kennedy. The design and construction are top-notch and love the details of the leather trim but also the matt zippers. The result is a weekender that not only looks good but is built to last you loads of trips!
