If you are like me, you understand that you need to look after your skin, but also don’t want to have a skincare regime that has 21 steps and takes 1,5 hour. So a men’s skincare regime should be as straightforward as possible.
Focusing on the essential steps, I have been using this 3-step routine with great results.
What is it? Cleanse, tone & moisturize! By adding these steps to your daily routine you will only need a few more minutes extra to ensure your grow old looking like George Clooney!
Step 1: Cleanse
Cleansing your skin helps to remove all the dirt and excess oil that are in your pores and sit on your skin. By cleansing it you will prevent breakouts and lessen that oily shine. It also ensure you have a clean skin to tone and moisturize, increasing the effectiveness of those steps.
I would suggest doing this twice a day. In the morning to remove all the dirt you have been rubbing on from your pillow (yes… your pillow is dirty…) and at the end of the day to remove all the buildup of the day.
Step 2: Tone
A toner product is ideal to reduce oily skin and further cleans the skin. It will also help to restore the natural pH balance of your skin and it will help shrink those large pores we all know. By helping to restore the pH of your skin and closing those pores your are ready for all the dirt thrown at you during the day.
I tone twice a day but depending on the dryness and oiliness of your skin once should be fine.
Step 3: Moisturize
Last but not least, moisturize! Once you have cleaned and toned the skin it’s time to hydrate the skin. Moisturinzing will create a protective layer on top of your skin to protect you from harsh elements and will support the skin with strengthening nutrients.
Personally, I moisturize twice a day. If you wish you could use a night cream which are typically a bit thicker. And a bonus is using a moisturize with SPF in it during the day to protect your skin against the sun.
Products I like to use
After years of using Clinique and Biotherm i recently switched to Aesop and haven’t looked back. These are the products I like to use.
What is your routine?
This simple routine has definitely upped my skin game. Less outbreaks and soft as a baby is the result so far. Interested to hear what your routine is and if you have any product recommendations.
